One long week!

My fellow people of God, I am asking that you please pray for me. These days of ministry have been long and hard! It just seem like new challenges just keep on coming. I am not going through any storms or anything like that, it seem like every time I nail down one end of the board the other end pops up.Well just a quick recap of the week,we had a great Lord's Day service at New Life 11:00 am worship. The Lord allowed me to talk from Colossians 1:15-18,Who is the historical Jesus. At 3:30 We had to go to the New Way Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Dr.Reginald Black,Sr. for their annual friends and family day. I had to preach that service, the Lord blessed in a great way.It is always refreshing to preach to people who are hearing you for the first time, their reaction and response never cease to amaze me. People have to get out of the habit of thinking they have already heard all of God's capable preachers. It's a good a good feeling when people are blessed by The Lord using us as Preachers. It's just funny that they assume because they have not heard of you that you can't preach, or that you are just alright.
Well enough of that, I had a tough week one our members woke up Tuesday morning and found her father had had passed away after a long battle with cancer. Please pray this is going to be the third funeral in less than a month. After only one funeral in the first six years of Pastoral leadership, it has taken it's toll. I canceled our bible study this week. I am also asking could whoever read this please pray for my brother in ministry Rev.Barry Severe of the Full Gospel Baptist Church, I just learned he had some health challenges. In spite of all The Lord is still good, can I get an amen.

New Life Institute recap

Last night we finished the third part of "Grace through faith" from the Gospel according to Jesus. We concluded looking at the pillar of that statement from Ephesians 2:8. The Lord has been good through this study from John MacArthur's historic book. The people of God has been blessed and challenged from the series thus far. We had a great Lord's day service this past Sunday also,I am just getting it in now since I have not blogged in sometime.I was extremely excited for my friend an brother Pastor Clinton Smith and the First Goodwill Family. If anyone have not had a chance check out the pictures on the his church web-site or blog page they have done a great job renovating their worship location. The work the that was done was inspirational to anyone who is about the Lord's business. I have to say kudos to my brother and ask everyone to continue to pray for him and the church family.

Lord's day worship recap

Yesterday was a unusual day of worship at New Life,we had almost as many visitors as members. Our worship experience was extremely challenging because I am still suffering from a severe cold.I tried to press through delivering God's word through adverse circumstances. The Lord gave me strength to preach from 2Corinthians 4:7-10,"I talked about God uses weak people".The Lord still blessed the service,we got two young ladies who came by christian experience. Please pray for the New Life family we are finally starting to make a impact in the immediate community.

Glad to be back home

The old saying there's no place like home is very true statement indeed! I have been out of state for a few days in the state of Nebraska. When I say it was cold, my goodness it was cold. Let's say 18 degrees at night. I did a three night meeting that went real well, the Lord truly is in the blessing business. I made it back home Thursday night, and I am glad to be back home. We had a great service at New Life on Sunday, the Lord blessed us with two new families and another young lady by christian experience. My sermon title on Sunday was "Giving thanks to God the right way" from Psalms 95:1-5. After 11:00am worship we ate together as a family of faith in our 1st annual pre-thanksgiving dinner. I guess I can say like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, my brothers and sisters there is no place like home.

One tough week!

After one of the most historic weeks in modern history, I had to face reality this week. The reality is that I woke up to one of the most difficult weeks of my life. In the very early hours of Tuesday morning, I was awakened to a disturbing phone call that one of my favorite former members of the church had passed away. Brother James Nelson was one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet, I had never seen the guy down not even once. The week was equally challenging in bible institute this week. We covered the subject " True faith and real discipleship" what a subject. The biblical launching point was Luke ch.14:26-33, we had a time with that. We also covered " By grace through faith " now this was cake walk after the first subject. The scriptures we covered was of course ,Ephesians 2:8-9 and 1Cor.7:19 and Titus 2:12. After covering just a few verses in this subject, my time was up. I can tell by looking at the faces of the members who are attending, they are being helped as well as challenged. The feed back that I am getting is not hurting either. This is going to be a hard hitting series, so please pray for me, I will need it!

Lord's Day recap 11/9/08 @ New Life CFC

Without sounding redundant, let me say we had a great day of worship at New Life. Our morning worship was good, we had an exceptional amount of visitors. The spirit was high from the start. The Lord has kept me in the book of Matthew for several weeks now, which is highly unusual because I usually hang out in the epistles. Yesterday I talked from Matt. 5:38-42
and used for a subject "Jesus gives an attitude adjustment". My outline was as follow

I.The Teaching of the Law (Lev.24:19,20)

II.The Teaching of the Pharisees(mis -interpretation of the law)

III.The Teaching of Jesus(not doing the natural, but the super natural)

I had sub- points I am just being lazy and don't feel like typing them. The Lord blessed and challenged the people of God to work on their actions and reactions. We also had our annual Deacon and Deaconess day. Our guest Preacher was Rev.Terry Wilson from Good News mbc., he did a good job. The message for the afternoon came from Romans ch.12v.1-2., he challenged the church to live a sacrificial life for God.
Well People of God, until next time be blessed.
